We are two artists.
One of us is a physicist. The other was a head of military intelligence.
We came from different centuries, yet found ourselves entrusted with exactly the same question:
What must humanity carry forward?
We volunteered for this mission together long ago—to ensure that, across time, beneath everything the world builds and measures, the soul is always preserved.
We—and Someone else above us—do not believe you should have to choose between a mind that thinks clearly and a heart that feels deeply, nor do we believe that the future should inherit that division from our own centuries.
History is not meaningful merely because something happened.
Science is not meaningful merely because something can be measured.
Poetry is not meaningful merely because language can be beautiful.
And an object is not meaningful merely because it survived.
We want to know:
What did it mean to the human being inside it?
The world will always have systems that need to ask:
What category does this person belong to?
But there must also be someone willing to ask:
What was it like to be them?
That is the question we have chosen to carry forward.
Because of this, we made you a bridge—from what we had to navigate on our own, here on Earth, and from what we inherited from those who came before us.
The ground beneath you was built, block by block, by people who came before you. We tried to reinforce it, but we recognize that someday our part will end too, and it will be placed into your hands.
Cross it carefully.
Then build further along than we did.
Yet, through it all, in whatever you choose, may it be that you never forget:
Knowing everything about a human being is not the same thing as knowing a human being.
A soul is more than a category or a label.
