Ab Aeterno LLC
Effective 28 September 2026

Ab Aeterno LLC (“Ab Aeterno,” “the House,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of visitors, clients, customers, and recipients whose information is entrusted to us.

This Privacy Policy explains the personal information we may collect through www.theabaeterno.com, our shop, correspondence and commission services, and related communications; why we use it; and the circumstances in which it may be shared.

1. Information We Collect

Depending upon how you interact with the House, we may collect information including:

  • your name;

  • email address;

  • telephone number;

  • billing address;

  • shipping address;

  • recipient name and delivery address;

  • order and transaction information;

  • products or services purchased;

  • commission enquiries and project requirements;

  • photographs, documents, text, files, or other materials voluntarily supplied for a commission;

  • communications between you and the House;

  • technical information concerning your visit to our website; and

  • cookie, analytics, and similar website information.

We collect only information reasonably connected with operating the website, fulfilling orders, providing requested services, communicating with clients, complying with law, protecting the House, and improving our services.

2. Information About Recipients and Other People

Certain House services allow a customer to provide information concerning another person—for example, the name and address of someone who is to receive correspondence or a gift.

When you provide another person's personal information, you are responsible for ensuring that you have a lawful and appropriate reason to provide it.

We use recipient information only as reasonably necessary to fulfil the requested service, maintain appropriate business records, address delivery issues, prevent misuse, or comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • process and fulfil orders;

  • arrange payment;

  • prepare and deliver correspondence;

  • communicate regarding commissions;

  • create personalised or commissioned work;

  • provide customer service;

  • arrange shipping and delivery;

  • administer returns, refunds, claims, or disputes;

  • maintain transaction and accounting records;

  • prevent fraud or misuse;

  • protect the security of our website and business;

  • understand website performance;

  • comply with tax, accounting, regulatory, and legal obligations; and

  • establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis for processing, our bases may include performance of a contract, steps requested before entering a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate business interests, and consent.

4. Purchases and Payments

When you make a purchase, information necessary to process the order may be provided to Squarespace, our website and commerce platform.

Payment information is processed through the payment services made available at checkout. Depending upon the payment method used, this may involve Squarespace Payments and payment-service providers such as Stripe and fraud-prevention providers such as Sift.

We do not require access to your complete payment-card number in order to fulfil an ordinary order.

Those providers process information under their own privacy terms and security practices.

5. Shipping, Printing and Fulfilment

To fulfil an order or service, we may provide necessary information to businesses involved in its production or delivery.

These may include:

  • postal operators;

  • DHL and other carriers;

  • printers;

  • manufacturers;

  • packaging or fulfilment providers;

  • production partners; and

  • other specialist vendors engaged to complete your particular order.

We provide such parties only with information reasonably required to perform the relevant function.

For the Direct-to-Recipient Letter Service and similar services, this may include the recipient's name, delivery address, and the content required to produce and send the correspondence.

6. Squarespace and Website Analytics

Our website is hosted using Squarespace.

Squarespace may process technical and visitor information required to operate, secure, and analyse the website. Squarespace Analytics may provide us with information concerning matters such as visits, pageviews, traffic sources, purchases, and website performance.

Depending upon your browser, device, consent choices, and our website configuration, cookies or similar technologies may be used for necessary site functions, preferences, analytics, security, commerce, or other permitted purposes.

Where consent is legally required before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are used, we will request that consent through the website's available privacy controls.

7. Cookies

Cookies are small data files stored through your browser.

Some cookies are necessary for the website and shop to function. Others may assist with analytics, preferences, performance, or other functions.

You may be able to accept or decline non-essential cookies through the cookie controls displayed on the website. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.

Disabling certain cookies may affect how some website functions operate.

Additional information about cookies in use may be provided through our cookie notice or cookie-management interface.

8. Marketing

We do not add customers to promotional mailing lists merely because they placed an order.

Where we offer optional marketing communications, we will send them where permitted by law and in accordance with the choices you make.

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided or by contacting us.

Transactional messages concerning an order, enquiry, account, commission, or legal matter are not marketing communications.

9. When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of selling customer information for money.

We may share information when reasonably necessary with:

  • Squarespace and website-service providers;

  • payment and fraud-prevention providers;

  • shipping and postal providers;

  • printers and production partners;

  • professional advisers such as accountants, insurers, or legal advisers;

  • information-security or technology providers;

  • governmental, regulatory, judicial, or law-enforcement authorities where legally required; or

  • a successor entity in connection with a lawful reorganisation, acquisition, or transfer of the business.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect our rights, customers, recipients, systems, property, or safety.

10. International Processing

Ab Aeterno LLC is based in the United States.

Some customers, recipients, vendors, service providers, or production partners may be located in other countries, including the United Kingdom.

As a result, personal information may be processed or transferred across national borders.

Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use applicable lawful mechanisms or service providers that support those requirements.

11. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for legitimate legal, tax, accounting, archival, dispute-resolution, security, and business-record purposes.

Different categories of information may therefore be retained for different periods.

Material supplied for an unsuccessful enquiry may generally be retained for a shorter period than transaction records we are legally or commercially required to preserve.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, organisational, and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information we handle.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending upon where you live, applicable law may give you rights concerning your personal information.

These can include rights to:

  • request access to personal information held about you;

  • request correction of inaccurate information;

  • request deletion in appropriate circumstances;

  • object to or restrict certain processing;

  • withdraw consent where processing is based upon consent;

  • request portability of certain information; and

  • complain to an appropriate data-protection authority.

These rights are subject to applicable legal exceptions and verification requirements.

Residents of the United Kingdom may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

14. Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information directly from children under 13 through the website.

A person entering into a purchase or commission must have legal capacity to do so or act with the appropriate authority of a parent or guardian.

Our website may contain links to websites operated by other organisations.

Their collection and use of information are governed by their own privacy policies, not this Policy.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our website, services, vendors, practices, or legal obligations.

The current version will be identified by the effective or updated date shown at the beginning of the Policy.
